Imagine one day waking up in hospital. Your nurse tells you that you and a relative have been in a car invasion resulting in you having been in a coma for the past 7 days. The nurse tells you that your relative is recovering well and was not effected as badly as you were and that they predict you will make a full recovery within a few weeks.
You are given your mobile back from the accident and it somehow only has minor damages. Your parents have been phoned and are seconds away from the hospital. You stroll through your contacts on your mobile searching for your bestfriends name because you so badly want to speak to him/her but you can’t seem to find the number anywhere. You start getting frustrated by this. You can’t find any previous text messages or photos of you together on your phone and you are just beyond confused and distraught.
Your parents arrive they are overwhelmed that after 7 days you are finally awake. 7 days that to them seemed like 7 months. You ask them about your bestfriend. Has she/he called? What’s going on?
Your father leaves the room and shortly returns with your nurse. Your nurse explains to you that your bestfriend does not exist and that the only conclusion was that the 7 days you were unconscious for must have resulted in you dreaming up your entire friendship with him/her. It was your brains way of coping.
What would you do?
Just a random sad thought.
